The new Youth Centre in Suzhou will be a vibrant example of digital architecture, and therefore a special attention was placed on the software tools used to design it.
The Youth Centre’s inner plaza landscape and its facades are conceptually based on rippled water, being Suzhou a famous canal city and this effect is achieved through the variation of the height of bands of louvers. Technical solutions for the louver system were developed during the design.
Several proposals were advanced also for the exterior facade, focusing on laser-cut aluminium panels following digitally built patterns and images.
